This
Elderly Home is an institutional building owned
by Fung Kai and subsidised by the Government.
Apart from the fulfillment of the clients' brief
and of parameters set by the Social Welfare Department,
the design aims to playfully reflect modern vernacular
in the articulation of the facade. Light and floating
planes along with the use of different materials
and colour achieve this effect.

This
pavillion is located on a favourite spot visited by
Sir Edward and Lady Youde on their weekend hikes. Sir
Edward, who passed away in Beijing whilst on official
duties serving as the Governor of Hong Kong, is commemorated
by this pavillion design chosen by Lady Youde. The design
is derived from the famous twin pavillion in Beijing,
and stands as one of only three such twin pavillions
in Asia.
